Frequently Asked Questions about ADA review

Q: What level of ADA compliance does the BloomCU review scan for?

WCAG 2.0 AA

Q: Does BloomCU offer remediation of CMS editable issues?

No. Remediation of CMS-editable issues is the customer's responsibility; however, if you have questions about how to resolve an issue, we are happy to help. Please take a look at our self-support documentation, or learn how to submit a question about your ADA report.

Q: Does BloomCU offer remediation of issues with third-party software?

No. Issues with third-party software, such as Chat, Forms, etc; should be addressed by the software vendor.

Q: Does BloomCU offer a review of 3rd-party ADA scans?

No. BloomCU does not offer a review of ADA scans by 3rd-party vendors. If you have a scan that was provided by a 3rd-party vendor, such as Monsido, etc; Please submit any questions or concerns you have as a new ticket (please create one ticket for each item)

Q: Does Bloom’s review guarantee ADA compliance?

No. BloomCU does not guarantee ADA compliance.

Q: Will Bloom’s review address all possible ADA issues?

We conduct our reviews using automated scan results. While using an ADA scanner has become a best practice for addressing common ADA issues, every automated scanner is somewhat flawed. None can detect 100% of issues, and different scanners evaluate and interpret rules a little differently. Additionally, scanners update their rulesets and detection methods over time, which means results can also change over time.

Q: How much does the review cost?

Our review is billed at our regular hourly rate. The total price may vary depending on the source and complexity of the final report. Our review price does not include remediation of ADA issues.

Q: Can you give me an estimate on an ADA review by BloomCU?

If you want us to scan the site with our ADA scanner of choice, the initial review cost will generally be around $1,000. If you opt for remediation (at an additional cost), we can offer one rescan for verification. Rescans do not include additional reviews. If a follow-up review is required, additional billing may be required.

Q: How much does it cost to review a 3rd-party audit?

The price will vary greatly depending on the report, the number of rescans needed to remediate issues, and your level of involvement in the review and remediation portion. We bill at a rate of $[insert rate]/hr.

Q. What is and is not covered in the review?

In short, our view addresses any issues found by the automated scanning portion of the review. Our review does not directly address any issues noted as manual or must-check.

We conduct our reviews using automated scan results. While using an ADA scanner has become a best practice for addressing common ADA issues, every automated scanner is flawed. None can detect 100% of issues and different scanners evaluate and interpret rules a little differently. Additionally, scanners update their rulesets and detection methods over time, which means results can also change over time.

Second-party

If you opt for a review by our team, it includes a scan with our current tool of choice to highlight accessibility issues that are commonly detected by automated scanners.

Third-party

If you opt to supply a report from a 3rd-party vendor, we will review only the automated results from the report.

All reviews

For all reviews, second and third party, we will create a project management board detailing each of the following.

  1. Highlight and remediate (if you opt for remediation), to the best of our ability, any warnings or violations that the current version of our scanner detects in your theme code.

  2. Highlight any issues that are believed to be false positives or 3rd-party issues (3rd-party issues should be resolved with the vendor).

  3. Finally, Highlight CMS editable issues and provide remediation documentation from our growing knowledge base to guide your team on ways that you can fix those issues—and how you can prevent further content issues in the future.

Q. What about manual results?

We run automated scans and strive to follow accessibility best practices. However, we don’t offer manual accessibility testing. If you want to do manual accessibility testing on your website, then we recommend working with a 3rd-party vendor that specializes in it.

A vendor that specializes in manual accessibility testing should provide a report detailing any existing barriers, as well as specific recommendations to remediate them. You may then submit to us each specific recommendation as an individual request. For each request we complete, you must work with the 3rd-party vendor to validate that it accomplishes your desired accessibility goal.
