This can happen if a firewall rule (ModSecurity) on your server is triggered. It’s a common issue we see after launch, and it usually shows up as a 404 error when you try to save a page, post, or other content.
How do I fix it?
You’ll want to contact your hosting provider (Liquid Web) and open a support ticket. Their team can check the server’s firewall to see which rule was triggered.
-
Some rules can be safely disabled if they aren’t needed for your site.
-
Other rules (such as security rules for protecting against cross-site scripting) should remain in place. In these cases, the host may suggest a workaround.
In most cases, Liquid Web can resolve this directly — if they need input from us, they will reach out.
What should I include in my support ticket?
When contacting Liquid Web, provide:
-
The server URL for your site (on Liquid Web)
-
The URL where the 404 error is happening
-
Your IP address - see: How do I find my IP address?
